The imposing defensive complexes of Dubrovnik and its surroundings bear witness to ancient times when survival was inconceivable without them. Today, they are a precious heritage and a significant tourist attraction. They impress with their size, and the question of how people built them in such remote times and inaccessible terrains always arises.
A visit to these medieval walls, towers and fortifications requires a little effort, but it is also a chance to connect with times far from our comprehension.
